Kyohei Sorita has been one of the most sought-after pianists in Japan since winning the silver medal at the 2021 Chopin Competition in Warsaw. His career in Germany began in 2023 with an acclaimed debut with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra. His debut with the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg was equally spectacular, where he caused a sensation in May 2024 in the dual role of pianist and conductor in an enthusiastically acclaimed concert. He was immediately invited back by both orchestras for further projects. At the start of the 2023/24 season, Sorita was a guest pianist and conductor of the Japan National Orchestra at the südtirol festival meran, among others, where he was "the discovery of the festival". His first collaboration with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra under Alan Gilbert followed shortly afterwards as part of a tour of Japan with Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 1. In February 2024, Kyohei Sorita made his debut with the Residentie Orkest with concerts in The Hague and Utrecht. At the end of the season, he will be touring Asia with the Basel Chamber Orchestra.

Kyohei Sorita has been one of the most sought-after pianists in Japan since winning the silver medal at the 2021 Chopin Competition in Warsaw. Sorita is also the founder, producer and conductor of the Japan National Orchestra, has his own record label NOVA and produces the music salon "Solistiade", a communication platform that connects young musicians and music lovers. According to 'Forbes', Sorita is one of Asia's most influential business personalities under 30.

In the 2024/25 season, Sorita will return to the Munich Philharmonic and the Tonkünstler Orchestra. In his dual role as pianist and conductor, he will be working with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn for the first time. The programme includes Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 and Beethoven's Symphony No. 2. A European tour with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra is planned for autumn 2025.

The orchestras he has worked with so far include the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, the Orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre, the Warsaw National Philharmonic, the Russian National Orchestra and the symphony orchestras of NHK, Yomiuri and Tokyo Metropolitan under the baton of conductors such as Robin Ticciati, Sebastian Weigle, Yutaka Sado, Andrea Battistoni, Andrey Boreyko and Mikhail Pletnev.

Kyohei Sorita became known to a wider audience overnight when he won first prize, the audience prize and three other special prizes at the 81st Japanese Music Competition in 2012. He then studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow and the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. His first invitations took him to St. Petersburg, where he made his debut with a solo recital and with the Mariinsky Orchestra as part of the Russian International Music Festival. This was followed in 2016 by his triumphant debut recital at the sold-out Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
